Google and Yahoo introduced strict bulk sender requirements in 2024 that are now fully enforced. Here is the complete compliance checklist to ensure your emails reach Gmail and Yahoo inboxes.

Starting February 2024, Google and Yahoo began enforcing new requirements for bulk senders (those sending over 5,000 emails per day to either domain). These requirements are now fully active, and non-compliance results in automatic spam filtering or blocklisting.

The 4 Core Requirements

1. Authenticate Your Domain

You must have valid SPF, DKIM, and DMARC records. Google now requires DMARC enforcement for bulk senders. At minimum, publish v=DMARC1; p=none; rua=mailto:your@email.com and work toward p=reject.

2. Keep Spam Rate Below 0.3%

Your spam complaint rate must stay below 0.3% (3 complaints per 1,000 emails). Google Postmaster Tools provides this metric in real time. If you exceed 0.3%, your emails will be filtered or rejected.

3. Enable One-Click Unsubscribe

All commercial emails must include a visible, one-click unsubscribe link that is processed within 2 days. List-Header unsubscribe is now required for bulk senders.

4. Send Only to Engaged Audiences

You must only send to recipients who have explicitly consented. Purchased lists, scraped addresses, or sending to unengaged contacts will push your spam rate above 0.3% and trigger enforcement.
